I have put up reviews for a couple of Credit Cards in Singapore. These are usually the ones that caught my eye for being the best in their respective genre. I will only mention those that I find them really good and stand out from the rest. If you do not see your card mentioned here, perhaps consider checking out the cards I have reviewed here, I’m pretty sure you will find something better here. But feel free to contact me or leave a comment if you want me to review certain cards or ask me which is the best card to replace your existing one.
Few things you need to know before reading my card reviews.
It is not possible to compare credit card if there is no common denominator, like I can’t compare apple with orange unless I have something to compare such as calories or Vitamin C amount. For Credit Cards, I will be using Air-mile Points for comparison purpose. The reward points used by different credit card companies are different but can generally be exchanged to Airmiles, which can be exchanged for Airlines travel miles, such as Singapore Airline Kris flyer miles or Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.
Just to give you a perspective, Singapore Airline requires 80,000 Airmiles to fly one way to Los Angeles in Business Class. I’ll post a topic of Airmiles in the future.
Some cards that I reviewed give you 4 Air-Miles per S$1 spent. So technically you only need to spend S$20,000 to get a air ticket worth S$8,000, and that is a 40% return to your pocket.
But if you do decide to exchange your hard earn points for gifts or rebate and generally approximately 1,000 air-miles = S$10 worth of rebate or shopping vouchers. So optimally you spend S$250 to get 1,000 air-miles worth S$10. S$10/S$250 = 4%. So not too bad, any good credit cards out there should give you an easy 4%-6% return to your pocket. Hence it is important to know which cards allow you to collect the most points.
As you can see, air-miles reward can be much higher than you think. You are comparing 40% worth of return compared with insignificant 1-3% rebate, 5% if you are lucky. Hence, Air-mile is the way to go for the biggest bang for your buck in the credit card industry in Singapore.
I will talk more about how to utilize Air-Mile Points in the future.
So hope you will find my review useful. And feel free to leave a comment. I may have left out some information, and will appreciate if you can let me know. But the information here is pretty accurate, and I’ll update them every so often.
